Stanford-le-Hope West is the western part of the town of Stanford-le-Hope in the borough of Thurrock, Essex, sitting close to the north bank of the River Thames estuary. The area is well connected by the A13 and the local rail line into London, and its proximity to the Port of Tilbury and nearby industrial estates gives it a mix of commuter and light-industrial character, with pockets of suburban housing and small commercial centres.
Historically an agricultural settlement that expanded with the arrival of the railway, the neighbourhood today combines local shops, parks and community facilities with a working-class heritage and ongoing regeneration pressures common across outer Thames-side communities. Residents tend to be a mix of long-standing local families and commuters, and the area retains some green spaces and historic features tucked among newer housing and business premises.
