Langdon Hills is a ward on the wooded ridge to the south of Basildon in Essex, England, best known for the stretch of green space centred on Langdon Hills Country Park. The park and surrounding scrub and ancient woodland give the area a more rural feel than much of the newer town development, with walking trails, wildlife and viewpoints that look out towards the Thames Estuary; the place name is often linked to Old English roots meaning a long hill.
Today the ward is largely residential, with a mix of post‑war and later housing, local shops, schools and community clubs, while many residents commute to work in and around Basildon or to London thanks to good road and public‑transport links such as the nearby A127. There are also echoes of its agricultural and small‑scale industrial past, but the country park and community activities make the area popular for families and outdoor pursuits.
