Dunham Massey is a small, largely rural settlement in Trafford on the edge of Greater Manchester, a few miles west of Altrincham and roughly eight miles from Manchester city centre. The area is notable for its rolling parkland and veteran trees bordering the River Bollin, with a long-established deer park and open countryside that make it a popular spot for walkers and families.
At its heart is the stately Dunham Massey Hall and surrounding Dunham Massey Park, now cared for by the National Trust and known for its 18th-century interiors, historic collections and wartime history as a hospital in the First World War. The estate shapes much of the local character and economy through tourism, events and volunteer activity, while the wider community remains largely residential and agricultural, with a quieter, village-like social scene.
