Warburton is a small village and civil parish in Trafford, sitting on the south bank of the River Mersey amid low-lying farmland and river meadows. Its rural character, proximity to the parkland of Dunham Massey and straightforward road links make it popular with walkers and with commuters travelling into Manchester, while agriculture and a few local businesses still shape the local economy.
The settlement has medieval roots and is centred on the historic parish church of St Werburgh's Church, whose fabric and setting reflect centuries of local life; a bridge over the Mersey links the village to neighbouring communities. Warburton retains a close-knit community feel, with village events, conservation-minded land management and the riverside landscape important to its social and cultural identity.
