Chevet is a small, mainly rural civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. It occupies gently undulating farmland and parkland just beyond the urban fringe of Wakefield, giving it a quiet, semi‑rural character with few dwellings and a low population.
Historically the area was dominated by the estate of Chevet Hall; the hall was demolished in the mid‑20th century but much of the parkland survives and has been repurposed for leisure and agriculture. With limited local services the parish relies on nearby Wakefield for shops and employment, yet it still attracts interest from local historians, walkers and those intrigued by surviving estate landscapes and rural heritage.
