Crigglestone is a village and civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, England. Historically linked to coal mining and local industry, much of the area has since moved towards residential and small‑scale commercial uses, and it retains a semi‑rural feel with hedgerows, fields and local footpaths close to the city.
Durkar, a neighbouring suburb within the same ward, is primarily residential with a strong local community, schools and clubs that serve families and commuters. The neighbourhood benefits from easy access to the surrounding countryside and reflects the wider social and economic shift in this part of West Yorkshire from mining roots to a commuter and service economy centred on Wakefield and nearby towns.
