Lambourn is a rural ward in West Berkshire, in the county of Berkshire, set on the chalk downland of the Lambourn Downs within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The landscape is defined by rolling downland, the clear waters of the River Lambourn - a classic chalk stream - and easy road access to the M4 corridor and nearby market towns such as Newbury.
The ward is best known for its dense concentration of racehorse training yards and gallops, giving it a strong equestrian economy alongside farming and local services; this long-standing horse-racing culture has shaped much of the local identity. Historic features of the surrounding downland, a compact village centre with pubs and community groups, and an emphasis on conservation of the chalk stream and archaeological sites all contribute to a distinctive rural character.
