Braunston is a village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire, England, set roughly between Daventry and Rugby. It occupies a prominent spot on the canal network where the Grand Union Canal meets the Oxford Canal, and that junction, together with a busy marina and nearby tunnel, gives the place a strong boating identity and makes it a focal point for leisure cruising in the Midlands.
Canals shaped Braunston’s growth from the late 18th century onwards, and the village still shows that history in its architecture and waterside workshops. Today there’s an active local community with boatyards, marinas and regular canal events that draw visitors, while small businesses and commuters to nearby towns combine with tourism and leisure boating to underpin the local economy.
