Burneside is a village in the unitary authority of Westmorland and Furness, in the historic county of Westmorland, in England. It sits a few miles north of Kendal in the valley of the River Kent, on the northern fringe of the Lake District, and offers easy access to riverside walks and nearby fells.
Historically the village grew up around water‑powered mills and small industry, and riverside mill buildings still mark that industrial past even as many have been repurposed for housing and small businesses. Today Burneside has a strong local community with village amenities, active sports clubs and a mix of commuters to Kendal and residents who appreciate the combination of rural tranquillity, industrial heritage and convenient links to larger towns.
