Nether Staveley is a small rural civil parish in Westmorland and Furness, England, centred on the lower part of the village of Staveley where the valley widens beside the River Kent. Situated on the eastern fringe of the Lake District and close to Kendal, it offers easy access to the Kentmere valley and nearby fells, so it’s a popular spot with walkers and people wanting a quieter base for exploring the area.
Historically the area grew from farming and small-scale milling, and today the local economy is a mix of agriculture, tourism and creative small businesses housed in repurposed buildings. Socially it retains a close-knit village atmosphere with active clubs and seasonal events, and there’s a strong local interest in conserving the parish’s landscape and heritage.
