Heversham is a small village on a limestone ridge in the unitary authority of Westmorland and Furness, a few miles south of Kendal and close to Milnthorpe. It commands broad views towards Morecambe Bay and the southern fringe of the Lake District, with easy access to walking country on the surrounding fells and limestone pavements.
The village has a strong local identity based on stone cottages, farming and a long educational and ecclesiastical history - the old parish church of St Peter’s and the former Heversham School are local landmarks whose buildings and traditions still shape community life. Proximity to attractions such as Levens Hall and the Arnside & Silverdale area of outstanding natural beauty helps sustain small-scale tourism alongside the agricultural economy.
