Chippenham Hardenhuish is a mixed residential and semi-urban sector on the northern side of Chippenham in Wiltshire, sitting close to the town’s centre and the stretch of the River Avon. The area combines Victorian terraces and post‑war housing with pockets of more recent development, local shops and community facilities, and is centred around the long‑standing educational hub of Hardenhuish School. Historically the neighbourhood grew up around the old Hardenhuish House estate, traces of which still inform the local street pattern and character.
Economically the ward mixes commuter households - many travelling to Bath, Bristol or London via Chippenham’s rail connections - with local retail and light industrial activity. It has an active community life, with school events, sports clubs and neighbourhood groups maintaining a fairly strong civic identity despite steady development pressures in recent years.
