Eton Wick is a small riverside village on the edge of Eton in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, lying close to the River Thames and within easy reach of Windsor and Maidenhead. Its low-lying flood meadows and ribbons of suburban housing give it a semi-rural feel despite being almost contiguous with the larger towns; the village is popular with commuters heading into London or the nearby commercial centres and benefits from attractive riverside walks and green space.
Historically it grew as a small community linked to the fortunes of nearby Eton College and river trade, and today retains a strong local identity with village events, a parish church and small-run shops and pubs rather than large industry. Local life is shaped by the interplay of tourism and royal-pageant activity in nearby Windsor, the conservation of floodplain countryside and occasional flood risk, and a mixed social makeup of long-standing residents and newer commuters.
