Horton is a small village and civil parish in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in Berkshire, lying a few miles east of Windsor and close to Eton and Slough. It retains a largely rural character of farmland, hedgerows and vernacular cottages, while benefitting from proximity to Windsor Great Park and the transport corridors that link the area with London and the wider Thames Valley.
Historically agricultural with medieval roots - its name comes from Old English meaning a muddy farm - the village has a modest number of listed houses and a traditional parish focus, with community life often centred on a village hall and local events. Economically it is a mix of farming, small local businesses and commuters to nearby towns, and residents are often engaged in local conservation and heritage issues as development pressures from neighbouring urban areas increase.
