Malvern sits on the western flank of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, England, its steep ridges and open commons part of the Malvern Hills AONB. The landscape is dotted with springs that gave rise to a Victorian spa boom and a wealth of elegant Victorian and Edwardian architecture centred on Great Malvern, while the medieval Malvern Priory and the Iron Age hill fort at British Camp anchor a long and layered history; the hills have also inspired walkers, artists and the composer Edward Elgar.
Today Malvern blends a visitor economy built on walking, heritage and bottled spring water with light industry and a growing science and technology cluster around Malvern Hills Science Park. Cultural life is lively for a town of its size, with Malvern Theatres, seasonal festivals and a strong community of independent shops and cafés, while its proximity to Worcester and the Cotswolds keeps it well connected.
