Powick in the Malvern Hills district of Worcestershire, England sits on the banks of the River Teme, a few miles south of Great Malvern and west of Worcester. Nestled beneath the slopes of the hills and within easy reach of the Malvern Hills AONB, it’s a rural riverside village valued by walkers and cyclists, with mixed farmland, gentle valley scenery and a history of small riverside mills.
The village is best known historically for the skirmish at Powick Bridge in 1642, one of the first cavalry clashes of the English Civil War, and for the later 19th‑century Powick Hospital, a large psychiatric facility closed in the late 20th century and partly redeveloped since. Today Powick remains a small, active community with a village hall, local pubs and small businesses, functioning both as a rural centre and as a commuter village for nearby Worcester and Great Malvern.
