Nether Poppleton is a riverside village on the west bank of the River Ouse, a few miles north‑west of York. Sitting alongside its neighbour Upper Poppleton as part of the wider Poppleton area, it has medieval roots and retains a mix of older stone and brick houses, riverside meadows and the floodplain that still shapes local life and landscape.
Historically agricultural, Nether Poppleton today functions largely as a commuter settlement for York while maintaining an active village community with a village hall, clubs and occasional events. It is served by Poppleton railway station on the line towards Harrogate and offers pleasant riverside walks and easy access to the city for shopping and work.
