Cliftonville

Cliftonville is an electoral ward in north Belfast, covering a largely urban area north of the city centre around the Antrim Road corridor. The ward is characterised by dense terraces and mixed housing from the Victorian and twentieth-century periods, with local shops, churches and community centres serving a socially diverse population.

Historically the area experienced the same communal tensions and economic decline that affected much of inner-north Belfast during the Troubles, and since then has been the focus of small-scale regeneration and active community organisations. Today Cliftonville combines grassroots cultural and sporting life with ongoing efforts to tackle deprivation and improve local services, reflecting both its challenges and its resilience.
