Woodvale sits in north‑west Belfast, Northern Ireland, close to the Shankill area and a short distance from the city centre. It is largely residential, with terraces, social housing and small parades of shops, and is anchored by the historic Woodvale Park, a late‑19th‑century public space that still serves as a local focal point for events and recreation.
The ward has a strong working‑class and unionist heritage and, like much of north Belfast, was shaped by the Troubles; murals and memorials in and around the area echo that past. In recent years community groups and regeneration initiatives have focused on improving amenities and youth provision, while its proximity to central Belfast keeps it linked into the city’s transport and employment opportunities.
