Lambeg is a compact ward on the banks of the River Lagan within the Lisburn and Castlereagh area, lying between Belfast and Lisburn. It occupies the rural–urban fringe, with a mix of suburban housing, pockets of agricultural land and riverside open space that give it a village feel despite good road and public‑transport links into the nearby cities.
The area has a modest industrial heritage tied to linen and riverside mills and retains a number of older houses and community buildings. Culturally it is best known for its association with the Lambeg drum and local Orange Order traditions, while today the local economy is largely driven by commuters, small businesses and community organisations that keep a strong neighbourhood identity.
