Dunmurry sits on the western edge of Belfast in Northern Ireland, close to the River Lagan and within easy reach of Lisburn. It is well connected by the M1 motorway and Dunmurry railway station, and borders the green corridors of the Lagan Valley Regional Park, which give the area a semi-rural feel despite its suburban setting.
Historically the settlement grew around riverside mills and industrial activity, and today it’s a mixed community of private and council housing with local shops, schools and light industry. Like many parts of the wider city it was touched by the Troubles, but in recent years there has been steady regeneration and a focus on community and sporting life that reflects a diverse local population and a commuter-orientated economy.
