Inch Kenneth is a small, wooded tidal island in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland, lying close to the southern shore of the Isle of Mull in the Sound of Mull. Its compact shoreline, sheltered anchorage and gardens make it a conspicuous feature from nearby ferries and give fine views across the surrounding waters.
Largely privately owned and used as a quiet retreat, the island shows signs of a long human presence - gardened areas, small-scale grazing and the remains of older structures - and is noted for seabirds, wildflowers and a strong coastal character. There is little formal industry; its value is mainly residential, conservation and seasonal visitor interest, and it has attracted artistic and literary visitors in the 20th century seeking tranquillity and the Hebridean light.
