Isle of Mull sits off the west coast of Scotland in Argyll and Bute, forming the second‑largest of the Inner Hebrides. Its landscape ranges from the rounded summit of Ben More to rugged peninsulas, sea cliffs and sheltered lochs, and the surrounding waters host seals, otters, basking sharks and recently re‑established white‑tailed sea eagles; nearby sea stacks and caves such as those around Staffa (home to Fingal's Cave) add dramatic coastal interest.
Life on Isle of Mull centres on small towns and crofting communities – most famously colourful Tobermory with its distillery, ferry hubs at Craignure and Lochaline, and historic sites like Duart Castle and the pilgrimage island of Iona. The economy depends on tourism, fishing, farming and craft industries, and the island’s Gaelic and clan history, along with the legacy of the Highland Clearances, still shapes local culture and community life.
