Margaidh Òr

Margaidh Òr is a small, windswept crofting township in Na h-Eileanan Siar, part of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Set against machair and coastal dunes it offers striking sea views and rich seabird life; the landscape and climate shape a way of life focused on small-scale farming, fishing and peat cutting.

Like many settlements in the islands, it has a strong Gaelic heritage and an active community culture - local halls, ceilidhs and traditional crafts remain important alongside an increasing role for tourism. The built and cultural landscape bears traces of long‑term human occupation, crofting history and Norse influence, making it a place where language, landscape and livelihoods still feel closely connected.
