Murthly is a small village in rural Perth and Kinross in central Scotland, set north of Perth and within easy reach of the River Tay and the wooded hills that lead towards Dunkeld and the Highlands. It sits beside historic transport routes, so while the feel is quietly rural there’s a ready link to larger towns and the main north–south corridors into the Highlands.
The village is best known for its estate and country-house heritage - the castle and parish church with their historic stones and mausoleum reflect a long local landed history - and the surrounding woodland and farms. Economically and socially, Murthly has the mix you find across Perthshire: traditional agriculture and forestry alongside small-scale tourism, outdoor recreation and people who commute to nearby towns. The combination of estate architecture, old kirkyard features and easy access to walking country gives it a distinctly Perthshire character.
