Dundee

Dundee sits on the north bank of the River Tay in the council area of Dundee City, in eastern Scotland. The city grew on jute, shipbuilding and whaling and still shows that maritime heritage at the waterfront and on landmarks such as RRS Discovery and the volcanic plug Dundee Law, while recent regeneration and the striking design museum V&A Dundee have given the waterfront a lively cultural edge.

Home to the University of Dundee and Abertay University, the city punches above its weight in life sciences, digital and computer-games industries and contemporary arts institutions like Dundee Contemporary Arts and Dundee Rep Theatre. It retains a strong local identity - compact, creative and continually reinventing itself - with a passionate football scene centred on both Dens Park and Tannadice.
