Llanybydder is a small, rural community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, set among rolling farmland and hills in the heart of west Wales. Historically it grew as a drovers' and livestock centre, with a once-busy market that reflected the importance of sheep and cattle farming to the local economy; much of the surrounding land remains agricultural, giving the place a patchwork of fields, hedgerows and stone-built cottages.
The village retains a strong Welsh-speaking identity and a lively local social scene centred on chapels, community centres and village pubs. The arrival and later loss of the branch railway in the 20th century shaped its connections, but it remains popular with walkers and people seeking a quieter rural life, while local events and shows keep a sense of tradition and community alive.
