Aberaeron is a compact harbour town on the estuary of the River Aeron in Ceredigion, west Wales, sitting on the north shore of Cardigan Bay. It’s notable for its planned early‑19th‑century layout and distinctive semicircular harbour, with a neat parade of colourful Regency and Georgian houses that give the town a very photogenic, village‑by‑the‑sea feel.

Historically the port handled lime and agricultural produce, and today the local economy is a mix of small fishing, tourism, cafés, galleries and independent shops; sailing and wildlife watching are popular, with Cardigan Bay dolphins often seen offshore. The town retains a lively community atmosphere, seasonal events and an appetite for arts and good food, making it a pleasant base for exploring the Aeron valley and nearby coast.
