Aberaeron is a compact Georgian harbour town on the Ceredigion coast at the mouth of the River Aeron, instantly recognisable for its row of brightly painted houses and small, attractive harbour. Originally developed in the early 19th century, it now balances a working marina and fishing heritage with a lively visitor scene of independent shops, cafes, galleries and occasional festivals, and remains a popular base for sailing and coastal walks.
Aberarth is a smaller coastal village a few miles west, with a long beach backed by low cliffs and dunes and a stretch of the Ceredigion Coast Path that attracts walkers and anglers. Together the communities form a ward whose economy leans on tourism, agriculture and local services, and which retains a strong Welsh cultural feel alongside a mixture of long‑standing residents and holiday homeowners.
