Melindwr is a rural community in Ceredigion, Wales, lying a few miles east of Aberystwyth in the wooded valley of the River Rheidol and on the lower slopes of the Cambrian Mountains. It includes the village of Capel Bangor, a stop on the steam‑hauled Vale of Rheidol Railway, and offers a mix of rolling farmland, pockets of forestry and waymarked walks that attract day‑visitors and walkers.
The area bears traces of 19th‑century mining and other industrial archaeology, but today its economy is largely agricultural with a growing seasonal tourism element and many residents commuting to Aberystwyth. Community life tends to be close‑knit and Welsh‑speaking, centred on chapels, village halls and outdoor pursuits, giving Melindwr a quiet, distinctive rural character with easy access to coastal amenities.
