Capel Bangor is a small village on the banks of the River Rheidol in rural Ceredigion, west Wales, a few miles upriver from the university town of Aberystwyth. It sits in a steep, wooded valley popular with walkers and birdwatchers and is best known for its halt on the heritage Vale of Rheidol Railway, which runs through the dramatic Rheidol valley towards the hills and coastline.
The settlement has a quiet, community feel and a history shaped by transport and rural industries; today the local economy leans on tourism, agriculture and people commuting to nearby Aberystwyth. Visitors come for scenic steam-train rides, riverside walks into the Cambrian Mountains and the sense of a small village that retains much of its Victorian and early 20th-century character.
