Llanilar is a small village in rural Ceredigion in west Wales, set in the Ystwyth valley a few miles south of Aberystwyth. The settlement centres on a historic parish church dedicated to St Ilar and sits amid rolling farmland with easy access to the coast and the nearby Cambrian Mountains, making it popular for country walks and quiet tourism.
Historically the village was tied to the old local rail network (the former Aberystwyth–Carmarthen line) and retains a strong rural, agricultural economy and a largely Welsh-speaking community character. Local life is typical of small Ceredigion villages, with community activities, a village hall and a sense of continuity between farming, local services and visitors to the surrounding countryside.
