Llangefni sits in the heart of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, built around the banks of the River Cefni. Its central, inland location makes it the island’s commercial and administrative hub for the surrounding rural communities, and the town grew historically around mills and a traditional market - its name literally means “church of the Cefni”.
Today Llangefni has a strong Welsh-speaking community, a mix of local shops, light industry and agricultural trade, and cultural life centred on places such as Oriel Môn, the local art and museum space. There are also reminders of its past in the old railway and market infrastructure, while community sport and events keep it an active focal point for the island’s interior.
