Colwyn Bay is a seaside town on the north coast of Wales, in the county borough of Conwy. It sits on the edge of the Irish Sea between Llandudno and Rhos-on-Sea, with a long promenade, sandy beaches and dunes backed by the hills that lead toward Snowdonia.
Once a prosperous Victorian resort, Colwyn Bay still shows elegant seafront architecture and the memory of a pier lost to storms; recent regeneration, including the Porth Eirias seafront complex, has tried to revive tourism and local services. The local economy mixes holiday trade, retail and commuting to nearby towns, while the community combines long‑term residents, seasonal visitors and newcomers drawn to the coast and nearby countryside.
