Aberffraw sits on the southwest coast of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, fronting a long sandy bay backed by dune systems and salt marshes. The village lies by the mouth of the small river and is overlooked by extensive dunes - part of the same coastal wildland that links with nearby Newborough Warren - making it popular for walking, birdwatching and quiet beach days with views across the bay.
Historically it is best known as the medieval royal court of the Kingdom of Gwynedd, and traces of that past still give the place a strong sense of heritage. Today Aberffraw is a small, largely Welsh-speaking community where farming and tourism play the main economic roles; its mix of coastal scenery, history and local culture makes it a gentle, unpretentious spot off the main tourist routes.
