Cilgerran is a small village in Pembrokeshire, Wales, set on the steep banks of the River Teifi where the river cuts a dramatic gorge. The skyline is dominated by the ruined Cilgerran Castle and a handsome stone bridge, and the surrounding Teifi Valley is popular with walkers, kayakers and anglers for its wildlife and scenic riverbanks.
Historically the village grew around the 12th‑century castle and the long history of Anglo‑Welsh border politics, and today its economy mixes agriculture with tourism and small local businesses such as galleries, cafés and holiday accommodation. It retains a close‑knit community feel, with seasonal visitors often using nearby Cardigan as a base while exploring the valley and coast.
