Maenclochog sits on the western slopes of the Preseli Hills in north Pembrokeshire, Wales. The ward covers a largely rural patchwork of rolling farmland, moorland and small settlements, with views towards hills known for prehistoric standing stones and the bluestones some believe were quarried for Stonehenge. The name, often translated as “stone bell”, alludes to the area’s ancient monuments, and the locality was once linked by a small local railway in the Victorian era.
Local life is shaped by farming, outdoor recreation and a strong community spirit - hillwalking, cycling and birdwatching are popular among visitors and residents alike. Agriculture remains the economic backbone, but small-scale tourism, renewable energy discussions and active village halls, chapels and community events help to keep Welsh language and local traditions alive across the ward.
