Caersws is a compact rural parish in mid‑Wales, set in Powys beside the broad sweep of the River Severn and surrounded by rolling farmland and pine plantations. The village sits on the trunk A470 and the Cambrian Line, giving surprisingly good rail and road links to places such as Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth, and making it both a working agricultural community and a base for commuters and walkers.
The area is notable for remnants of Roman forts and visible earthworks, reflecting a long history, while locally the parish retains a strong community life centred on the village hall, church and small businesses. Economically it remains largely agricultural, with tourism, heritage interest and rural enterprises supplementing traditional farming and forestry.
