Carno is a small village and community in the county of Powys in central Wales, historically part of Montgomeryshire. It sits beside the main A470 and was formerly served by a station on the Cambrian Line, making it a quiet rural stopping point between larger towns such as Newtown and Caersws.
Surrounded by rolling farmland and the uplands of the Cambrian Mountains, the area is characterised by sheep farming, smallholdings and pockets of commercial forestry; village life centres on a hall, chapels and community events, with walking and other countryside pursuits proving popular. Older churches and traditional farmsteads hint at a long rural history, while some residents commute to nearby towns, keeping the community close-knit but outward-looking.
