Clyro is a small village and parish in Powys, Wales, set on the uplands overlooking the Wye Valley a few miles from Hay-on-Wye. The landscape is characteristically rural - rolling farmland, wooded valleys and nearby river scenery - and the village contains historic features such as a parish church with medieval fabric and earthwork remains of a medieval motte-and-bailey, hinting at a long local history.
Today Clyro retains a close-knit community centred on its village hall and primary school; the local economy is largely agricultural supplemented by small businesses, holiday lets and modest visitor activity from walkers and people visiting neighbouring book towns. Many residents commute to larger towns or work remotely, enjoying ready access to the outdoors and the hills near the Brecon Beacons National Park.
