Tredegar in Blaenau Gwent sits in the steep-sided Sirhowy Valley in the South Wales Valleys. The town expanded rapidly in the 19th century around coal, iron and steel industries, and the built environment - rows of terraced housing and old works sites along the valley floor - still reflects that industrial past amid reclaimed hillsides and winding valley lanes.
