Penybont is a small, predominantly rural parish in Powys, Wales, its name meaning "bridge end" in Welsh and hinting at the historic focus of settlement around a river crossing. The landscape is typical of mid-Wales: rolling hills, stone farms, quiet lanes and stretches of river that attract walkers and anglers, while the local economy remains largely agricultural with some small-scale tourism and rural enterprises.
Socially and historically the parish retains a strong sense of local community centred on a parish church, chapel life and occasional village events, with a built environment of 18th–19th century stone houses and farmsteads. Like many parts of eastern and central Powys it has an ageing, dispersed population and a quieter, pastoral rhythm rather than large commercial or industrial activity.
