New Radnor is a small village and civil parish in Powys in mid-Wales, set in the broad Radnor valley beneath the open moorland of Radnor Forest. It occupies a notable spot in the borderlands with visible earthworks from a medieval motte-and-bailey castle and a history as the original county town of Radnorshire, reflecting its historic importance on routes between Wales and England.
Today New Radnor is a quiet, largely agricultural community with a strong local life centred on the village hall and parish activities; walkers and riders are drawn to the surrounding hills and moors. Its proximity to the English border and nearby market towns, such as Kington in Herefordshire, means residents commonly use services on both sides while visitors come for the landscape, history and rural tranquillity.
