Old Radnor sits on a ridge in rolling agricultural country in northwest Powys, close to the border with England and within the old county of Radnorshire in Wales. The settlement has medieval roots and a compact pattern of stone buildings clustered around its church, giving it a quietly historic feel and good wide views over the borderlands.
Today it is a small, largely agricultural community dominated by mixed sheep and cattle farming, with a scattering of holiday cottages and walkers passing through rather than mass tourism. Social life centres on the village hall and church, and local efforts to maintain historic buildings and community events keep a strong sense of place despite the challenges of rural life and commuting to larger towns.
