Crook Log lies in the south‑east of the London Borough of Bexley, squeezed between Welling and Bexleyheath and fronting major local routes such as Erith Road. It is largely a suburban, residential area with a mix of inter‑war and later housing and reasonably direct bus and road links for commuters heading towards central London.
Locally the area is anchored by the Crook Log Leisure Centre, community sports clubs, a parade of shops and a traditional pub also known by the same name, while nearby playing fields and small green spaces give it a village‑like feel within the outer suburbs. The neighbourhood grew with suburban expansion in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and today tends to be socially mixed, with families and long‑standing residents who use the local facilities as community focal points.
