Watermead is a relatively modern village and civil parish on the northern edge of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, built around a series of lakes created from former gravel workings. The lakes and surrounding reedbeds form an important local green corridor, attracting waterfowl and making the area popular with walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers; the balancing lakes also play a practical role in local flood management.
The community is largely residential with a mix of family housing and some small local shops and amenities, and there’s an active community life centred on outdoor pursuits, fishing clubs and volunteer nature conservation. Its location on the edge of Aylesbury gives residents easy access to town services and transport links while still feeling distinctly suburban and green.
