Guyhirn

Guyhirn is a small village in the district of Fenland in Cambridgeshire, England, sitting on the banks of the River Nene where the river and surrounding drains meet the reclaimed fenland. It lies close to the market towns of March and Wisbech and has long served as a river crossing and local hub between the surrounding agricultural landscape and the waterways that were central to fen drainage and transport.

Historically the settlement grew up around the crossing and the ever-present task of managing water in the Fens, so pumping stations, drainage channels and low-lying arable fields remain key features. Today Guyhirn is a quiet rural community with a handful of older buildings and bridges, good access for riverside walks and birdwatching, and an economy centred on farming, local services and commuting to nearby towns.
