Huntingdon is a compact market town in the historic county of Huntingdonshire, now part of Cambridgeshire in England, sitting on the banks of the River Great Ouse. Its riverside setting and surviving medieval street pattern give a pleasant town centre, while its location north‑west of Cambridge with good road and rail links to Peterborough and London makes it a popular base for commuters as well as locals.
Huntingdon is perhaps best known as the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell and retains a small but interesting civic and cultural life, including a Cromwell museum and regular markets and events. The local economy mixes traditional market‑town shops and services with light industry and leisure activities along the river, and the town’s identity is shaped by its long history as the county town of Huntingdonshire and its riverside character.
