Flitwick is a small town in Central Bedfordshire, lying between Bedford and Luton with a station on the Midland Main Line served by Thameslink. The town grew up beside the River Flit and still has visible historic features - a medieval church and earthworks hint at its long history - while the nearby Flitwick Moor nature reserve is a notable SSSI of wetland and meadow that attracts wildlife and walkers.
Today Flitwick combines a village feel with commuter convenience, local shops, schools and a leisure centre, and a mixed economy of small industry and people travelling to workplaces in Luton, Milton Keynes and London. Recent housing growth has broadened the community, but green spaces and local events help retain a strong neighbourhood identity.
