Ampthill is a compact hill-top market town in Central Bedfordshire, England, with sweeping views across the Bedfordshire countryside. It sits close to rail and road links via nearby Flitwick and the M1, making it popular with commuters to Luton and London, while still retaining a compact Georgian high street, independent shops and a strong conservation feel.
The town has medieval and Tudor roots and is best known for the attractive grounds of Ampthill Park, a historic deer park and estate associated with the court of Katherine of Aragon. Today Ampthill combines a pleasant rural setting and local agriculture with a lively community calendar of arts, festivals and clubs, and a small but diverse local economy centred on retail, services and tourism.
